Peratallada – The Catalan Tuscany.

Peratallada – The Catalan Tuscany.

Peratallada is one of Catalonia’s most iconic and best-preserved medieval villages. Its origins, according to archaeological studies, possibly date back to the Chalcolithic era. Roman settlements have also been confirmed in the area, including the discovery in 1976 of a Greek amphora at Mas del Bou Negre, highlighting the region’s rich historical legacy.

Wander through its labyrinthine stone streets, admire the imposing castle, and marvel at vines wrapping around walls and windows. Peratallada evokes the essence of Tuscany, transporting visitors into a world reminiscent of chivalric novels, where church bells chime and the scent of bougainvillea fills every corner.

Declared a Historical-Artistic Ensemble and a Cultural Asset of National Interest (BCIN), Peratallada maintains its feudal character, with narrow, winding streets full of visual surprises between projections and recesses.

Located in the province of Girona, within the municipality of Forallac in the heart of Baix Empordà, Peratallada lies halfway between Barcelona and the French border, near the Costa Brava.
